100 Years on; Different Team – Same Determination

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

A team from the New Zealand Antarctic Heritage Trust have just successfully discovered crates of whiskey that had been abandoned by Ernest Shackleton and his team back in 1907 when they attempted to reach the Northern Antarctic Coast from the South Pole. The whiskey wasn’t the only thing that Ernest left behind him but it’s certainly the item that’s getting most attention!

Ernest Shackleton was a great polar explorer and he led a determined team, with primitive technologies to rely on in his days, his key equipment was his team and this is something that hasn’t changed to this day. A leader is only as good as his team.

Your team may not be planning to go to the South Pole any time soon but it’s still crucial that your team is fighting fit and ready for a challenge. Make sure you motivate and inspire them and you will have a team that is engaged and successful.

We understand that it takes time for teams to build and we have developed a series of team building events that bring your teams together as one. If you are looking to arrange a team event then talk to us today,

Team work and dedication produce bubble blowing Chinese whales

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

Incredible as it may sound but two whales in a Chinese aquarium have learnt how to blow bubbles in time for the Chinese New Year celebration. What? You may well ask! These incredible animals have spent the last year with their underwater trainer learning how to blow bubbles of all shapes and sizes including heart shapes! How the trainer managed it who knows, is it really what we want to see whales doing – debatable, but it does show that with time, effort and dedication your team (even one made largely of whales) can achieve the incredible!

It’s highly unlikely that you would want to teach your team how to blow heart shaped bubbles but you may want them to achieve something that seems at the moment, unachievable or unimaginable. This is where building your team is essential, nothing will be achieved with a fragmented unmotivated team, so it’s up to you to make sure that your team are on top of their game and ready for the next challenge.

At Accolade we know that businesses are facing some of their hardest challenges at the moment, so we have developed a wide range of different team building events that cement and build your team. Call us today and we can talk you through your different options.
