China Not Up For Team Building in Copenhagen

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Leaders have come away with a less-than-satisfactory set of agreements from the Copenhagen climate Summit. Many European leaders were hoping for a much more ambitious set of targets in order reduce the negative effects of climate change. The British Prime Minister said the deal had been “held to ransom by only a handful of countries.” The most high profile of these states was China, who refused to agree to a 50 percent reduction in emissions by 2050. Under initial proposals, developed countries would have aimed for an 80 percent reduction by the same year.

The results of the summit will be disappointing for many people, but others will say that there are lessons to be learned. With so many countries and so many distinct cultural groups, it was always going to be a challenging team building exercise. The efforts of the 193 nation summit did result in some targets being set, but many will say not enough.

It is indicative of the kind of set-backs sometime experienced at such conferences. It has been described by some as “the end of the beginning”. Successful team building is about keeping at it, until the desired results are achieved.

Here at Accolade we think we can help you and you organisation achieve the required results a lot more quickly than in an international conference. To see how we can help you secure smiling colleagues and improved sense of team spirit, call our sales team now.

The Copenhagen Summit: International Team Building

Monday, December 14th, 2009

The Copenhagen Climate Summit has been featured in the news a great deal over recent days – the bringing together of the world’s nations in the common goal of addressing climate change. As with all summits, the particular needs of each nation often flies in the face of those of other nations. But many people believe that being proactive about climate change is absolutely necessary.

The delegates from each nation have a huge task ahead of them – and in many ways they need to develop a team effort – working with each other rather than against each other. The Copenhagen Summit is an international team building exercise – because everyone is working towards the same goal.

All nations have to balance issues such as industry (and the associated green house gasses) and the health of the planet. The leaders of all nations will be compelled to make concessions for the good of the future – bearing in mind that it is their children who may have to deal with the results if they fail.

Here at Accolade we understand the importance of team building – and indeed what great things can be achieved when we all work in harmony. To find out how we can help you company, get in touch with our sales team now.
