Fake Maori scandal: Our HAKA masters are the real thing

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

There’s been a scandal in the headlines recently about a cruise liner docking in New Zealand, hosting a cultural show with ‘fake’ Maoris performing  the HAKA, to the extent that the fakes have ‘FAKE MAORI’ written in pen on their forehead! Not the authentic experience you expect when landing in New Zealand.

It’s often the case that fake Maoris perform the HAKA here in the UK at corporate events but unfortunately they don’t write ‘fake’ on their forehead. We don’t doubt that Europeans can give a good rendition of the HAKA but we pride ourselves by offering an authentic experience.
If you host a HAKA team building activity or evening entertainment with us, you will get the 100% real deal, it’s as simple as that. The power that the real thing can deliver is immense and the motivational shared experience that your delegates will feel will drive your business forward on an overwhelmingly positive direction.

If you would like to arrange a HAKA team building activity or at an evening corporate event then please give our events team a call at Accolade Corporate Events today.

A Magical Corporate Event?

Monday, January 4th, 2010

He has been hailed as the new magic man of the noughties, and he has been taking the United States of America by storm. His name is Ehud Segev, otherwise known as the Mentalist and he is single handily bringing the art of illusion back to the world of corporate events, or so they say.
Following along the lines of Derren Brown and David Blaine, Ehud performs a series of illusions on the CBS primetime slot – The Mentalist Show – and while his skills of illusion are without doubt remarkable it remains to be seen whether this kind of entertainment would be considered desirable at corporate events.
For instance, if a given performer claims to have the ability to read people’s minds, few people would want to get up in front of their boss; perhaps it is more likely to make people retreat into their shells as they wouldn’t want people to know if they consider themselves to be underpaid or over-worked!
This type of entertainment is not always ideal for corporate events, but it can certainly make for a memorable and fun time for all involved.
At Accolade we take all your corporate event requirements extremely seriously and tailor events to your specific needs, whether you want something unusual and fun or something more traditional. We put in the hard work so you don’t have to worry, and we won’t use any magical trickery – unless you want us to!
