Quiz Nights Provide Corporate Entertainment With A Twist

Monday, November 30th, 2009

I’m sure we have all heard those dreaded words from our boss, “team we’re going out on a corporate outing”. Those words can strike feelings of horror in the heart of the staff as after a while all these corporate entertainment events can start to seem very similar to one another.
Well that was what I thought until I recently took part in our latest team building outing. Instead of performing the same old tasks the company organising the event had arranged a very original quiz show.

When we entered the room a staging area had been constructed with two podiums and a big plasma screen which displayed a list of categories. We all got pick our names out of a hat to decide who would play against each other and it was really a lot of fun.
You could really feel the pressure when on the stage even though it was only your work colleges that you were performing in front of. It was amazing how your mind can sometimes go blank when asked the simplest question and put upon the spot.
The night contained fun, amusement and laughter by the bucket loads and was enjoyed by all, it was certainly one that I would recommend to other people in the future.

Building Stronger Bonds Through Corporate Events

Friday, November 27th, 2009

You’ll never get as far as an individual as you will do as part of a team, that is the philosophy that people try to instil in you when team building. I recently attended a number of Corporate Events where we took part in a range of team building events and it was amazing how it managed to relax the team and relieve the stress levels.
When we arrived we were split into two team and then assigned a number of tasks, the two teams would then be competing against each other in these challenges to see who would come out on top.
Although the challenges were only simply tasks like building a structure made out of cardboard that would support a range of weights, it really helped to establish good team communication and provided the camp with a competitive spirit and maybe most importantly it was fun.

The main aim of the event was to get members of the team that didn’t normally work together to integrate and also to get everyone’s problem solving brain working.
At the middle of the day we changed the teams around so the bonds that we had made were broken and we were forced to use our new found skills to rebuild the team.
At the end of the day there wasn’t any award’s presented to the winning team, but we all left with a sense of achievement and skills that would help us in our day to day life.

Team Building to Encourage Success

The American version of the Apprentice is in full flow and for those that have caught this late night programme, the competition is heating up! Donald Trump certainly is a larger than life character and he really delivers in giving the candidates some challenging tasks.

It’s been interesting watching the teams working together, watching the dynamics, the competition and the camaraderie that evolves each week. Despite being in direct competition for a dream job the candidates realize that to be successful you must be a team player and each week we see the team building.

So can you replicate this kind of scenario in the business world? In our Team Apprentice team building event, we can replicate different tasks inspired by the TV show and work with your teams. By ensuring a fast paced, time pressured format, we can ensure that to be successful teams have to pool resources, think creatively and be a team player to be successful.

Team Apprentice the team building event from Accolade Corporate Events took inspiration from the TV show but is in no way associated to or endorsed by the BBC or NBS.
